Volunteering for the Rincon University Marching Band Association is essential to sustaining a high-quality, competitive program that provides students with meaningful educational and performance opportunities. Unlike a typical PTO, which primarily supports general school activities and operates under the school’s umbrella, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization like this association exists as an independent entity with a focused mission. This structure allows it to raise funds, secure grants, and accept tax-deductible donations specifically for the band program. Volunteers are the backbone of this effort; they make it possible to manage events, coordinate logistics, support students at competitions, and ensure resources are available where school funding alone falls short. By giving their time and expertise, volunteers directly contribute to the program's success, accessibility, and growth, helping ensure that every student has the opportunity to participate and excel regardless of financial barriers.

To honor these contributions, we have established the following recognition levels inspired by musical tempo—each level reflecting the energy and commitment of our volunteers, based on hours of service.

• Andante (1–19 hours): A steady and meaningful start
• Allegro (20–99 hours): Building momentum and engagement
• Vivace (100–199 hours): Energetic and highly committed service
• Presto (200+ hours): Exceptional dedication and leadership
• Director’s Circle (500+ hours): Extraordinary commitment 

Each level reflects the spirit, energy, and impact our volunteers bring to our organization. Whether you are just beginning your volunteer journey or have dedicated countless hours to it, your efforts are deeply valued and appreciated.

How do I become a volunteer?

• To ensure the safety of our students, TUSD requires that all parent and non-parent volunteers complete or update their application each school year. 
• Human Resources reviews your submitted application and works with the school to authorize volunteer work to begin. 
• Volunteer applications may take 2-3 weeks to approve prior to volunteer work beginning. 
• Non-legal guardians must pass a fingerprint background check to be authorized. TUSD provides fingerprinting services. 
• Volunteer approval notices should be forwarded to president@rangerband.org. 
• RUMBA has many volunteer opportunities. Visit our event calendar throughout the year for openings.

Non-Legal Guardian Family Members

The student's legal guardian must notify RUMBA of a non-custodial family member applicant before the applicant applies. Please send the applicant's full name, phone number, email address, the student's name, and the applicant's relation to the student to president@rangerband.org. Applications will not be approved without prior submission of this information to RUMBA.
